Degradable Fabric Pots from Root Pouch
With the Root Pouch, you have an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic pots. Made from recycled PET bottles, these pots have resulted in a breathable air-permeable and water-permeable fabric. The recycled fabric is mixed with natural materials such as jute, bamboo or other plant fibers. These pots have a lifespan of 3 to 4 years.
How does the Root Pouch work?
These pots help in better and stronger root development, this is because these pots have a better water balance and are permeable to air, therefore the fertilizers are better utilized. Because of the capillary effect these fabric pots are very suitable for the Ebb and Flow system, but can also certainly be used in growing systems.
Above ground the fabric lets air and water through for an optimal air/water ratio, and provides insulation during cold periods and cooling during warm periods. If you use these pots above the ground, the roots will be pruned by the air or 'Air Pruning'. This will prevent your roots from circling in the pot and will provide extra branching of the root hairs. These extra roots will develop in the lateral roots and this leads to a fine root system with a
multitude of root tips and therefore dense, vigorous root growth is created. For outdoor cultivation, the biodegradable Root Pouches can also be buried in the ground. The roots will grow through the fabric and the pot will slowly break down.
