Milwaukee EC59 | EC60 PRO 3-in-1 - Waterproof EC / TDS / Temp Tester with Replaceable Probe
COMPACT. POCKETABLE. WATERPROOF.
The EC59 and EC60 are waterproof and compact meters that allow you to easily and quickly measure the EC / TDS value (conductivity) and temperature of a liquid. Keep EC/TDS/TEMP. within your target range to help achieve your best results.
These new waterproof pocket sized EC / TDS / Temp meters feature a replaceable electrode, temperature display in ° C or ° F, automatic temperature compensation with adjustable ß, battery indicator, stability indicator, auto power off and auto calibration in a floating, waterproof case. The meters are equipped with a replaceable electrode.
The meters show on the LCD screen the EC (EC59: 3999 μS/cm | EC60: 20.00 mS/cm) or TDS (EC59: 10.00 ppt | EC60: 2000 ppm) value, and simultaneously the temperature 0.0 to 60.0 ° C (or 32.0 140.0 ° F) on the next line.

EC59 vs EC60
The two meters differ from each other in their measurement range, resolution and the units in which measurements are displayed.
For example, the EC59 has a measurement range of 0 to 3999 μS/cm and 0 to 2000 ppm; a resolution of 1 µS/cm and 1 ppm; and the units are also displayed in μS/cm and ppm. The EC60 has a measurement range of 0.00 to 20.00 mS/cm and 0.00 to 10.00 ppt; a resolution of 0.01 mS/cm and 0.01 ppt; and units are also displayed in mS/cm and ppt.
To convert these values check out the Milwaukee conductivity converter at the bottom of the page.
USE AND MAINTENANCE
EC electrodes may start to release nutrients over time. Rinse the probe with fresh tap water after each use to prevent build-up.
CONVERTING EC TO TDS
The Milwaukee EC pen, like all conductivity meters, provides a measurement of electrically charged ions in a solution and is an absolute measurement of conductivity.
EC is often converted to TDS in parts per million (ppm). There are several scales, such as the 500 scale, the 650 scale, and the 700 scale. However, the true PPM can only be determined by chemical analysis.
Your mS/cm reading can be converted to TDS (ppm) by approximation:
2,000 µS/cm = 2.0 mS/cm = 1000 ppm on .50 factor scale
2,000 µS/cm = 2.0 mS/cm = 1400 ppm on 442 scale or .70 factor scale
