Canna Orchid Special ~ Orchid Plant Nutrition
Description
Canna Orchid Special ~ Orchid plant nutrition
Canna Orchid Special is a complete fertilizer specially developed for orchid species such as Phalaenopsis, Oncidium and Vanda. Canna Orchid Special is made with high-quality pure nutrients and chelates that are readily and completely available to your orchid.
Almost every windowsill in the Netherlands has one or more orchid plants, with this plant food you can better maintain them and encourage your plant to bloom again. In addition to Phalaenopsis orchids, there are many species of plants with their own growth and flowering needs and corresponding nutritional requirements. These exotic species are mainly found with enthusiasts. To achieve large healthy plants that are full of flowers, the use of Canna Orchid Special is recommended.
9 tips for growing Orchids
- Put orchids in a bright place but avoid placement in bright sun.
- Feed a flowering potted orchid every week for extra-long, exuberant, colorful blooms. Submerge the orchid with a nutrient solution.
- In winter, most orchids are dormant. Feeding once a month is then sufficient. The plants do still need plenty of light (not in full sun, but certainly not in the dark).
- If it is very hot and dry, the plants can be doused once extra with water. For nutrition, tap water can be used but the plants prefer rainwater. Too hard water contains a lot of lime; this can be harmful to the orchids.
- After dipping for at least 15 minutes and up to 4 hours, the excess water should be poured out of the pot. Orchids can be very bad to water in the pot, the roots will rot very quickly (within a few days).
- Vandas are not in a pot and are therefore best hung in a humid room, such as the bathroom, unless there is enough daylight there. The roots can be moistened with a plant spray containing the nutrient solution.
- When an orchid has finished flowering, the flower stem should be cut away. With Dendrobium nobile, the old shoots should be cut away and the new flower stems will bloom. After cutting away, the plants can be moved to a slightly cooler space until the first new shoots and buds become visible. Do not put the plants too cold ( 5 degrees cooler than the living room is enough).
- The newly formed flower stems are best made on the sticks only when there are flower buds in them. Then there is the least chance of breakage.
- To give the roots enough space, the plants can be put into a larger pot once a year, preferably in spring. Orchids can only be put in special orchid substrate, which is a kind of tree bark.

- Add 3 ml to 1 liter of water and let it come to room temperature first. Too cold water straight from the tap can damage the roots.
