Blumat Tropf Bonsai | Humidity sensor
Improve the Health and Growth of your Bonsai with Blumat Tropf Bonsai
Tropf Blumat Bonsai is an advanced irrigation system specifically designed to optimally meet the watering needs of bonsai trees. This system uses ceramic probes that respond to soil moisture levels, ensuring balanced and consistent watering of the plant.
High technology for optimal growth
The technology behind the Blumat Tropf Bonsai ensures that each tree gets exactly what it needs. The result is improved growth and flowering performance. You can even dose well-dissolved nutrients when you connect the Blumat Bonsai via a water tank. The ceramic probes are the heart of the Tropf Blumat Bonsai system. These probes are made of porous ceramic material that absorbs or releases water, depending on the moisture content of the soil. When the soil is dry, the probe will draw water from the reservoir and direct it directly to the roots of the plant. This ensures efficient watering and minimizes water loss through evaporation or runoff.
Operation and installation of Tropf-Blumat Bonsai
Like its brothers, the normal Blumat Tropft and the Blumat Tropf Maxi, the Blumat Tropf Bonsai works on negative pressure. Connection is easy and can be made either to the water supply via the Blumat pressure reducer or to a water barrel via the Blumat barrel grommet.
One of the main advantages of the Tropf Blumat Bonsai system is its automatic watering. Unlike manual irrigation, where the frequency and amount of water are difficult to regulate, this system automatically controls the flow of water based on the needs of the plant. This helps maintain proper soil moisture levels, which is essential for the health of a bonsai tree, for example.
Compatibility with different soil types
The Blumat Bonsai is designed to work in well-known bonsai soil types such as akadama, akadama mixed with kiryu and kanuma for azaleas. This makes it an extremely versatile solution for your bonsai trees.
User instructions
- Start by placing the Blumat sensor under water and let it soak for about 30 minutes. Screw the sensor under water to prevent air from entering the sensor.
- Choose a suitable location close to the edge of your bonsai bowl. Drill a hole about 1.5cm in diameter and 2cm deep. Place the sensor so that the bottom of the plastic sleeve makes good contact with the ground.
- For settings of the Tropf-Blumat Bonsai you can follow the tips of the normal blumat. Pay attention to the watering time for trays with little soil. Adjust the distance between the drip hose and the blumat, ranging from 4-6cm, for the ideal moisture setting. Explore the best practice with the different soil types used for bonsai. We recommend evenly moisturizing the root ball for better plant adaptation to the system.
- For scales larger than 20cm, it is necessary to use multiple sensors.
